Student Life

Fine Arts

The objectives for the area of fine arts begin with an understanding that God is glorified as the gifts He bestows on each person are developed and offered back to Him. God’s gifts include all types of creativity in music, speech, drama, and various forms of art.

Gunnery Road Christian Academy encourages the development of the student’s creativity, for man has been given the ability to create in imitation of God. Christian creativity attempts to reflect God’s ways as completely as possible. GRCA is concerned with the improvement of the student’s tastes. If the student is to imitate God in His judgment, to obey the injunction to “approve things that are excellent” (Phil. 1:10), he must possess the aesthetic as well as the moral perceptions and inclinations to prefer the best in all areas of his experience. To imitate God in His actions as well as in His attributes is to develop abilities into skills and to exercise them as instruments of God’s will.

Preschool through High School students enjoy art classes every week. Several students in preschool through high school take individualized music classes. Drama opportunities begin in elementary and continue throughout High School. Christmas programs and graduations allow students to participate in music and drama.
