WHAT IS THE SPIRIT ROCK?

The Spirit Rock is a fun and creative way to celebrate what makes our school community special. Whether you’re recognizing a birthday, a celebration, an accomplishment, spreading well wishes, or highlighting an upcoming event, the Spirit Rock is your canvas! It’s open to any kind of uplifting or inspiring message—from accomplishments and congratulations to school pride and encouragement.

Painting the rock has become a favorite tradition that students, families, and friends can enjoy together. To keep it a positive experience for everyone, please note that the use of profanity, offensive symbols, political content, or inappropriate language is strictly prohibited.

Important Reminders:

  • Reservations are required to paint the spirit rock.

  • The renter is responsible for providing all supplies and completing the painting. (Would you prefer to hire a local artist? Please see below for more information.)

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • The cost $10 per day.
  • You may begin painting the spirit rock at 4:00 pm on the day BEFORE your reserved date, and your session will expire at 3:59 pm the day of your reservation.
  • Check for availability and reserve dates on our calendar. (Click on the desired date, then select the 9:00 AM time. This will redirect you to the checkout page to make a payment.)
  • NOTE: Book the rock in advance to guarantee your desired date is available.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • By choosing to paint the spirit rock, families or groups accept full responsibility for any personal property damage (such as clothing or belongings) as well as any accidental damage to school grounds during the process.
  • Gunnery Road Christian Academy administration reserves the right to review all spirit rock messages. Any designs or wording found to be inappropriate will be removed or painted over at their discretion.
  • We truly appreciate your support—100% of your donation goes directly back to GRCA to benefit our students and school community. Thank you!

 

WHAT SUPPLIES DO I NEED?

To get started, you’ll usually need 2–3 cans of spray paint for the base layer, plus extra paint for your design. Latex paint is also a great option, and for detailed artwork, craft paints, foam brushes, and stencils can help bring your vision to life. Any kind of permanent and non-water-based paint works best, especially on rainy days.

Please remember: You are responsible for bringing all your own supplies and for keeping the area around the spirit rock clean and tidy. Be careful to only paint the rock—take care to protect the surrounding grass, sidewalks, and street from any paint or mess.
