General Information

Tuesday-Friday: 7:45 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

School will not take place on-site on Mondays. There will be 35 AHE (At Home Enhancement) days. Acceptable AHE assignments include music lessons, reading reports, remedial class work, field trips, etc.

Daily attendance is expected for grades 4-6.

Students participate in elective classes weekly. A specialized instructor teaches each.

Grade Level Information

Bible Studies

The curriculum highlights the significance of Bible study and its application to everyday life. Lessons are structured both chronologically and thematically and cover texts from the Old and New Testaments.

History

The program begins by examining the five U.S. regions, emphasizing states and capitals. It then moves on to discuss the impact of the Civil War, the nation’s evolution through World War I, the Roaring 20s, the Great Depression, and World War II.

Science

Students delve into ecosystems, living organisms, machines, and electricity with hands-on projects and activities reinforcing the scientific method.

Mathematics

Lessons in geometry, pre-algebra, and problem-solving techniques complement continued development in whole numbers, fractions, and decimal calculations.

English

Students progress in writing through comprehensive training in planning, drafting, revising, and proofreading, alongside the reinforcement of previous study, listening, and speaking skills.

Spelling

The curriculum addresses challenging spelling patterns and enhances dictionary skills.

Reading

Students improve reading comprehension and critical thinking through classical literature excerpts and character-building stories.

Handwriting

Students refine their handwriting by writing journals, paragraphs, outlines, and hymns, focusing on notable American locations and landmarks.

Bible Studies

Students are equipped with skills in using cross-references, concordances, and Bible dictionaries to deepen their understanding of Scripture. The aim is to foster adeptness in personal Bible study through structured instruction.

American History

Lessons delve into the transformation of American industry from the early 1900s onward, exploring the impact of advancements in air and automobile travel. The curriculum also examines significant societal challenges such as the Great Depression, civil rights movements, and pivotal wars of the era.

Science

Instruction covers topics including heat, light, minerals, and the intricacies of the human respiratory and circulatory systems. Students engage in hands-on activities and projects to apply their newfound knowledge effectively.

Mathematics

The curriculum focuses on mastering multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals while emphasizing geometric principles and pre-algebraic concepts.

Language Arts

Students advance their writing skills through various writing tasks and publication exercises. The curriculum also reinforces studying, researching, listening, and speaking proficiency.

Spelling

Lessons concentrate on word pairs and the names of all 50 states, providing opportunities to enhance dictionary skills.

Literature

Building on previous years, students explore excerpts from classical literature and character-driven narratives. These readings and associated activities facilitate the development of research and literary analysis skills.

Bible Studies

Basics for a Biblical Worldview: Middle-school students are confronted daily with worldviews that want to win their hearts. Bible 6: Basics for a Biblical Worldview helps students distinguish a biblical worldview from a false worldview and equips them to live out a biblical worldview. Students learn to relate the story of Scripture to fundamental Christian beliefs and values as they learn what the Bible says about their identity, work, relationships, society, and belief system.

Social Studies

Exploring Human History: Beginning with the creation narrative, this course offers a historian’s perspective on human history. It covers early civilizations through the European Middle Ages, equipping students to articulate and defend their faith amidst diverse worldviews. Utilizing maps, archaeological findings, historical records, and more, students explore the unique characteristics of each civilization.

Science

Discovering the Natural World: This course delves into fundamental topics across earth science, biology, physics, chemistry, and space science. Emphasizing evidence of creation, students learn to apply scientific knowledge to serve others while marveling at the complexities of God’s creation. The curriculum includes extensive hands-on activities to foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
